People Think Nicki Minaj Took Shots at Remy Ma on New Song
Nicki Minaj dropped a new song featuring some pretty savage bars, and people think it's directed at Remy Ma.
Nicki Minaj gave us arguably her best guest verse in years on Gucci Mane's "Make Love," released Thursday to immediate full-volume marathon spins. Several lines in Minaj's verse appear to reference Remy Ma, who many thought took shots of her own on Phresher's "Wait a Minute" remix back in December. Ma, however, denied any such shots during a Breakfast Club interview last week:
Ma said she wouldn't have kept it subliminal if the track was intended as a diss. "I am going to say your government," she said. "I'm going to look it up and say your mother's name, your father's name, your kids' name. I want you to know I'm talking about you." In the track itself, she criticizes an unnamed person's "fake breasts" and use of a "ghostwriter."
In her Gucci collab "Make Love," Minaj delivers the following:
Two things worth noting here: Remy Ma's Fat Joe collab "All the Way Up" went platinum last year. Also, Ma's album There's Something About Remy: Based on a True Story was met with critical favor but disappointing sales. And that's enough to have a growing number of people convinced that Minaj is taking direct aim at Ma on both "Make Love" and her recent Jason Derulo pairing "Swalla."
