Rihanna made an appearance in court in Los Angeles on Wednesday to support her partner ASAP Rocky, who is currently on trial for alleged assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

Per Rolling Stone’s Nancy Dillon, Rihanna, though briefly expected to not be making an appearance on Wednesday after Rocky was seen entering court without her, was seated next to Rocky’s mother. SoCal-based independent repoter Meghann Cuniff, meanwhile, added that Rihanna was also sitting with Rocky's sister.

On the eve of Wednesday's court appearance, RiRi was seen alongside Rocky, with whom she shares two children, during a night out in the Los Angeles area.

In the case, Rocky is accused of firing a gun at ex-friend Terell Ephron, previously known under the moniker ASAP Relli. Police say the incident occurred in November 2021, with an LAPD press release shared the following April alleging that it began as “an argument between two acquaintances” in the Hollywood area.

“Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón later said in his own statement on the accusations against Rocky.

Taking the stand earlier this week, Relli accused Rocky of pointing a gun at him during the alleged 2021 altercation and saying “I’ll kill you right now, pussy.” After his appearance in court that day, a TMZ paparazzo asked Relli about potentially being viewed as a “snitch” in connection with the case, with Relli responding, “Would you be a snitch if somebody shot at you?”

Rocky has maintained his innocence, last week rejecting a would-be plea deal.

As for those questioning why photos and/or video of Rihanna in the courtroom on Wednesday didn't immediately surface given that the trial itself is being livestreamed, the below X update should provide some clarity.

Ahead of the trial’s kickoff, RiRi, whose beloved Anti album marked its ninth anniversary on Tuesday, was described as Rocky’s “common-law wife” by his attorney during an in-court debate. Ultimately, however, the judge agreed with pushback that the word “wife” not be used unless the two are legally married.
