Sexyy Red on Tyler, The Creator: 'Every Time I See Him, He Twerking'
Sexyy Red and GloRilla recently joined Tyler and Weezy for "Sticky," one of 2024's finest songs.
Tyler, The Creator is caught in a state of perpetual twerkdom, at least according to Sexyy Red.
This is among the highlights from Sexyy and GloRilla’s just-released one-on-one for XXL, which sees the two artists, both of whom appear on Tyler’s “Sticky” with Lil Wayne, capping off banner years with a reflective conversation. Naturally, the Chromakopia collaboration was brought up during the chat, and for good reason: The song easily stands as one of the best of the year, and a key entry in all involved’s respective discographies.
“Everybody loves it,” Sexyy said when asked about the song, which was expectedly quick to be adapted for the marching band format upon its release. “They love that we on another song together. I think they fuck with that we all on that song together.”
Glo then pointed out that she recently saw footage of Sexyy and Tyler twerking together, marking a reference to a clip of the two stars doing exactly that during the 2024 edition of Tyler’s Camp Flog Gnaw.
“We always be twerking together,” Sexyy added. “Every time I see him, he twerking. He funny.”
In all seriousness, if “Sticky” wasn’t high in your rotation this year, what gives? Aside from its artistic feats, of which there are many, the song also serves as a befitting celebration for Tyler and company, at a uniquely timely moment for each: Weezy was fresh off an extended public discourse surrounding the Super Bowl Halftime Show pick for next year’s game in New Orleans, both Glo and Sexyy were coming up on the final weeks of a blockbuster year, and Tyler was deep in the throes of yet another artistic peak in a career full of them.
All that to say, listen to “Sticky” today, listen to “Sticky” tomorrow, basically never stop listening to “Sticky.” Every fiber of your being will thank you.
