Skilla Baby Reportedly Grazed in Head in Michigan Shooting (UPDATE)

UPDATED 5/23, 11:38 a.m. ET: More information has now been made available on the incident, with a Redford Township Police Department rep confirming to Complex that the investigation into the non-fatal shooting remains ongoing.

While police did not name Skilla Baby in their statement, a spokesperson did say that “a 26-year-old male had been transported to a local hospital by a witness.” Per the rep, preliminary evidence shows the victim was traveling alone when the suspect, who has not been identified, “fired over 20 rounds” at his vehicle. The victim, per police, “suffered three non-fatal gunshot wounds before crashing his vehicle.”

Detroit rapper Skilla Baby was injured in a shooting Thursday night, per local reports.

According to FOX 2 Detroit, citing sources, the shooting in question took place in the 8 Mile Road and Beech Daly Road area of Redford Township. At the time, Skilla was reportedly in a black SUV, which ultimately crashed into a nearby building after being shot at.

Both that report and another local one from ClickOnDetroit cite sources and preliminary investigation information as suggesting that Skilla was “targeted,” though this hadn’t been confirmed as of this writing. The Crack Music 3 artist is reported to have been grazed in the head and back during Thursday's shooting, as well as struck in the hand.

Reports note that Skilla, 26, is expected to recover from his injuries. At publication time, local police had not shared an official statement on the shooting or related investigation. The Shade Room, meanwhile, cited “a member from [Skilla Baby’s] team” as having said that he is “currently healing.”

Complex has reached out to reps for the Redford Township Police Department and Skilla Baby for comment. This story may be updated. No information on a possible suspect or other details about the shooting were immediately available.
