SZA Says Nicki Minaj 'Asked for Features Twice to No Response,' Shares Alleged Texts: 'Be Blessed'
According to SZA, Nicki Minaj is "having a moment."
SZA says Nicki Minaj is “having a moment” as their back-and-forth continues, this time with the inclusion of alleged texts from the latter about a feature.
Wednesday night, as seen a bit deeper into this article, the Grand National Tour co-headliner responded to a Met Gala red carpet-focused X update from Nicki by zeroing in on the origin of a certain “Feeling Myself” lyric and looking back on a 2020 hook request.
“Nicki, you absolutely know my music and what I contribute cause you’ve asked for features twice to no response,” SZA said, adding that Nicki was “rapping my lyrics” on “Feeling Myself” back in 2014. Specifically, SZA pointed fans to the “Cookin’ up that base, lookin’ like a kilo” line from the track, closing out the update with an invitation to “be blessed.”
As for the alleged texts, a screenshot shared by SZA appears to show Nicki asking an unknown third party about the possibility of getting the SOS artist on the hook for a track titled “Don’t Do.”
SZA is indeed credited as a co-writer on “Feeling Myself,” off Nicki’s The Pinkprint album. In a 2015 Sway's Universe interview, SZA, who’s been the subject of several swiftly headlined Nicki remarks in recent days, said she had “no idea” how she ended up being involved with the song’s creation.
“Hit-Boy produced [it] and I wrote the lyrics so Nicki and Beyoncé are singing some of the things that I wrote to it,” she said at the time.
The “Feeling Myself” mention comes after Nicki called SZA “ugly,” a “liar,” “an odd little weirdo,” and more. Top Dawg Entertainment’s Terrence “Punch” Henderson also found himself at the center of public criticism and mockery from Nicki, with SZA at one point letting it be known that she doesn’t “give a fuck ‘bout none of that weird shit [Nicki is] popping.”
Meanwhile, SZA and Kendrick Lamar's Grand National Tour continues this month with stops in Cardiff, London, and elsewhere.
ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
