The Weeknd Unveils Striking Cover Art for New Album ‘Dawn FM’
The Weeknd's new album, his first since the 2020 blockbuster 'After Hours,' is out later this week. But first, let's get a closer look at the cover art.
As expected, The Weeknd has given fans a cover art unveiling ahead of the impending release of his new album.
As seen below, the Dawn FM cover art hints further at some of the overarching themes fans can expect from Abel’s latest, which marks his first new album since 2020’s After Hours.
Dawn FM, as previously announced, will be released this Friday. Ahead of the drop, Abel has also made the newly unveiled cover art his profile picture on Twitter and Instagram, resulting in an aesthetically satisfying overhaul for the post-After Hours era.
On Monday, a trailer for the new album—The Weeknd’s fifth—showed Abel in the same aged-up makeup utilized on the cover art. Heard in the minute-long clip was the voice of none other than Jim Carrey, who later shouted out his “good friend” for inviting him to “play a part in his symphony.”
Also confirmed to have contributed to Abel’s symphony this go-around are Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, and Oneohtrix Point Never. See more below.
Potentially on the horizon, as well, is a reteaming of the Safdie variety:
Meanwhile, the official Weeknd online shop is currently listing two alternate Dawn FM covers, billed as Collector’s 01 and Collector’s 02 editions. These editions, featuring (as Stereogum notes) art from Robert Beatty, are available in both CD and vinyl formats, as well as on cassette.
