Jaguar Wright: Who Is She and What Has She Said About Jay-Z, Diddy, and Others
In recent years, the singer has become known for making a number of wild claims.
Baseless claims made about Jay-Z and Beyoncé on the talk show Uncensored have led to a swiftly issued apology from host Piers Morgan.
The claims in question, slammed as “totally false” by legal reps, were made by Jaguar Wright. They’ve since been edited out of the official video, with Morgan himself noting that this was a remarkably rare occurrence for the show. But who is Wright? What are the baseless claims, exactly? How are people responding?
Below, we take a closer look.
Who is Jaguar Wright?
In 2002, Wright, a Philadelphia singer whose back catalog also includes appearances on Jay’s MTV Unplugged and The Roots’ The Roots Come Alive, released her debut studio album through MCA. The album, titled Denials Delusions and Decisions, featured the track “That What If’s,” once the soundtrack to a Coca-Cola spot. Divorcing Neo 2 Marry Soul arrived three years later through Artemis.
More recently, Wright has released music through her Bandcamp, including a rock version of "The What If's." She also runs a Patreon.
What did she say about Jay-Z and Beyoncé?
During an interview on Uncensored, Wright made baseless claims against the oft-headlined couple, at one point referring to Jay as a “monster” who “starts little fires everywhere.” In the interview, she also lamented a lack of “vindication” she claims she deserves.
“This has been a fist of tyranny that has been punching through our culture and society for decades,” Wright said. “It must stop.”
Elsewhere, Wright further alleged to be in contact with purported “victims” she claims are willing to provide testimony.
“Not only what Mr. Carter has done to them but his wife as well,” she said. “They’re a nasty little couple. They do nasty things. Keeping people against their will, putting people on planes while they’re unconscious.”
Morgan later issued an apology to Jay and Beyoncé, noting that he would comply with “a legal request” to have Wright’s claims removed from the interview.
“That's the thing about platforms, the reality of the modern world is that pretty much everyone has a platform as long as they have something to say that other people wanna hear,” Morgan said in a video statement, as seen below. “That’s why we invited her on to be interviewed. The people making these claims have an audience with or without shows like mine. Well, Jaguar Wright unexpectedly made several serious allegations about Jay-Z and Beyoncé during the interview.”
Morgan continued, “As I said in the moment, they were not present to respond or defend themselves. But now they have. Their lawyers contacted us to say that those claims were totally false and have no basis in fact. I will therefore comply with a legal request to cut them from the original interview. Editing interviews is not something we do lightly at a show called Uncensored. But like the proverbial cries of fire at a crowded theater, there are legal limits on us too. We apologize to Jay-Z and Beyoncé.”
What has she said about Diddy?
In the same Piers interview, Wright referred to Diddy as a “monster” and “one of the most dangerous people I’ve ever met.” She has also made claims about the Bad Boy Records founder and Meek Mill, namely claiming earlier this year that Nicki Minaj was in possession of alleged audio of a salacious nature.
Over the years, Wright has also shared unproven claims of Diddy being linked to multiple deaths, including other key Uptown Records names. Others to have been made the subject of various claims from Wright include Common, The Roots, Justin Bieber, Mary J. Blige, and more.
Meanwhile, Meek has responded to coverage of Wright's latest claims on X, as seen below.
Wright was recently interviewed by RealLyfe Productions, with the nearly two-hour conversation debuting the same day as Morgan's apology. Diddy, expectedly, was mentioned numerous times during the interview.
