ASAP Rocky Celebrates Knicks’ Playoff Win by Hooping With Fans Outside NYC Restaurant
He threw lobs to everyone outside of a restaurant.
ASAP Rocky celebrated the New York Knicks winning their playoff series against the Detroit Pistons by hitting the streets of New York to hoop with fans.
TMZ reports that the rapper was spotted at Melba’s restaurant in Harlem after the Knicks beat the Pistons 116–113 in Game 5 at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night. When the “Crosstown Express” Knicks bus came to the restaurant, Rocky grabbed a basketball and played with some fans thanks to the vehicle having an attached basketball hoop.
ASAP Rocky became ASAP Rondo apparently, due to the fact that he was tossing alley-oops to fans who began dunking the ball.
Rocky’s excitement for the Knicks was well deserved. Last night (May 1), the team beat the Pistons thanks to an unbelievable last-second shot from their star point guard Jalen Brunson.
The Knicks’ win gave them the victory in their series with the Pistons with a score of 4-2. Now, they move on to the Eastern Conference semifinals to face the Boston Celtics in Game 1 on May 5.
Rocky recently opened up about how fatherhood has become a major part of his “creative process.” During a new episode of The Run-Through With Vogue, Rocky joined hosts Chioma Nnadi and Chloe Malle to explain how his sons, RZA and Riot Rose, have changed his artistic procedure.
"Being a father is my creative process now because I just embodied it as a whole. I never really had a role model or just an iconic figure," said Rocky. "...And I guess I'm that for people, and I didn't purposely try to do that, but I take it as a badge of honor.”
"I'm so flattered and, just being me, that it can inspire people to actually do something that is considered good, being a present, active father,” he added.
Rocky continued on, explaining what fatherhood was like for his father. "I love that shit. For me, my dad was a proud dad,” said Rocky. “He taught me everything I know, especially how to be a gentleman and whatnot, so I was prepared to be a dad my whole life, man, you know? I'm ready, and I'm 36 going on 37, man. These clothes suit me well."
