NBA YoungBoy Sued By Merch Company on Eve of Tour
They allege YoungBoy gave them exclusive rights to create and sell his merch.
NBA YoungBoy is facing a lawsuit from a merch company for breaching a contract.
In legal documents obtained by Complex, Westside Merchandising, LLC. hit the rapper — and his company Never Broke Again, LLC. — with a lawsuit alleging a breached million-dollar merchandise licensing deal.
The complaint was filed Aug. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, claiming that the company entered into a licensing agreement with YoungBoy in 2023, giving it the exclusive rights to design, manufacture, and sell Never Broke Again apparel, both on his website and at his concerts.
Additionally, the deal required the rapper to undertake specific promotional methods, such as Instagram posts and photoshoots to help the products fly off the shelves.
In the lawsuit, the company claims that it paid YoungBoy an advance of $1 million to fulfill his obligations, but the rapper failed to do any of the promised services that were outlined in the contract. In fact, they claim that YoungBoy even promoted the merch of their competitors and sabotaged additional deals they secured for him.
Since YoungBoy was incarcerated from December of 2023 to May 2025, he moved to get rid of the deal — but Westside says that can’t happen until they’re paid 115% of the balance that they haven’t recouped.
Westside is seeking damages, declaratory relief, attorneys’ fees, and a court order that requires the contract to remain effective. The lawsuit was brought on by the rapper's newly-announced headlining tour, which begins early next month.
News of YoungBoy’s lawsuit comes right around the time that he and DJ Khaled announced a joint project together.
The body of work, titled Deshawn after YoungBoy’s middle name (that’s spelled DeSean) will consist of 13 tracks and, most likely, a lot of shit talk from Khaled. Be on the lookout for it on Aug. 12.
