Polo G is contemplating a serious career change.

The Chicago rapper revealed he’s considering a career as a streamer due to the potential earnings he’s heard about. He's probably not entirely serious, given the crying-laughing emoji he ended the message with.

“I wanna be a streamer one day too I heard They pay better than rap 😭” he wrote.

It’s no secret that top streamers make a lot of money. Last year, Forbes released a list of the top creators of 2024, and Kai Cenat landed on the list with $8.5 million in earnings. It's worth noting that Adin Ross gave Donald Trump a Rolex watch and a customized Tesla Cybertruck last year.

For rappers, who have to record songs, perform them, do interviews, and sell albums, it’s no wonder that they’d want to do what they probably think is easy work.

Another reason that Polo G could want to become a streamer is because they’ve often been called the “new rappers.” Mark Phillips of RDC World recently released a skit about the growing popularity in streaming and how they earn enough to be considered the “new rappers.”

In the hilarious skit, Phillips plays a rapper who collaborates with a streamer and comes to realize just how awesome his life is. When Phillips and the streamer hang out in public, the streamer gets stopped and recognized over him. At one point, Phillips is even asked to take a picture of a fan and a streamer.

In another funny moment, Phillips is shocked at the massive home owned by another streamer who earned his money from sharing his life with his audience. The skit ends with Phillips gradually making it clear that he wants to be on stream with the streamer he’s with whenever he can.

Most recently, popular streamer Plaqueboymax has carved out a unique space in both the streaming world and music since joining FaZe Clan last April. His successful "In the Booth" blends hangout sessions with live music creation, and unlike other streamers who host rappers, Plaqueboymax is one of the first to make music with guests in real time on Twitch.

Polo G isn’t finished rapping yet, despite his post. Last month, he shared his most reflective single yet, “Thug Memorials.”
