Rich Homie Quan's Father Issues Heartfelt Tribute After Son's Death
“Yall pray for me and my family. I feel like I’m being crushed to a million pieces," he said.
Rich Homie Quan’s father has shared a heartbreaking post for his son following his death yesterday (Sept. 5).
Quan’s father, Corey Lamar, posted the wrenching message on Instagram, writing, “Unbearable pain. Lord please please please help me to understand this.”
“To lose my son (my first born, my best friend. Lor please let this be a dream…” he continued. “Yall pray for me and my family. I feel like I’m being crushed to a million pieces.”
Lamar’s heartbreaking message comes at a time where many of Quan’s close friends and industry musicians are taking the time to pay their respects.
Yesterday, Lil Kim paid her condolences to the recently deceased lyricist with a post paying tribute to their friendship. “This is part of life that I’ll never get used to, I’m so heartbroken,” she wrote.
“No one ever understood the dope ass friendship u and I had,” she continued. “U always pulled up for me no matter what. I’ve learned in life love those who love you. Rest in heaven my angel.”
Prior to that, Jacquees shared a message to Quan on X. “Rest in peace my brother Rich Homie Quan,” he wrote. “I love you for life. #Richgang.”
Yesterday, Quan pased away in Atlanta from a reported drug overdose. Born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, the rapper first found success with his Billboard Hot 100-charting single “Type of Way” in 2013. Just two years later, he grew even more popular with the release of “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” that peaked at No. 26 on the previous chart.
In 2018, Quan released his debut studio album Rich as in Spirit which was largely bereft of features — except for Rick Ross on “Think About It.” Fans held out hope that Young Thug would appear on the project based on their past record of making hard-hitting collaborations together, but this wouldn’t happen due to the problems that they had with each other at the time.
Quan’s last project, Family & Mula, came out in 2022.
