Tommy Richman Responds to Joe Budden Not Liking His Music: ‘They Ain’t Even Hear the Album Yet'
Budden joins Funk Flex as two prominent figures who don't "get" Richman's music.
Tommy Richman thinks Joe Budden is speaking a bit prematurely by saying he doesn’t like his music.
Richman laughed at a clip of Budden trashing his music that was posted to X. Responding first with a laughing emoji, Richman suggested that Budden be prepared for his LP. “Funny that they ain’t even hear the album yet,” he wrote.
In the video that Richman was responding to, Joe Budden was discussing Richman with JT. “I never want to hear that Tommy Richman n*gga again,” he said before mimicking the way that “Million Dollar Baby” sounds. “Shut the fuck up,” he continued.
Though Budden’s tired of hearing Richman, the rest of the world can’t get enough of him. In April, Richman dropped “Million Dollar Baby” and it very quickly became the song of the summer. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song is so popular that former president Barack Obama put it on his yearly summer playlist that he shares on social media.
Instead of basking in the success of the song though, Richman has kept the train rolling. In June, he released a follow-up song, “Devil Is A Lie.”
A large number of people love Richman’s music, but Budden isn’t the only famous critic that he has. Funk Flex went on a rant in June about “Million Dollar Baby,” criticizing anyone that loves the song.
"If you're someone that likes this song you are a clown," Flex said. "This song... I don't know what the rest of his songs sound like. I don't even know who Tommy Richman is. It sounds like a shoe store. Now we're going to document this hot garbage. We're going to play it, I know you want to hear it. I wonder if this is big in the club."
When he played the song afterwards, Flex admitted that the intro sounded like it could be a good song, but he didn’t like Richman’s opening verse. Additionally, he said that the drums on the record sound like a “tin can.”
It’s worth saying that Flex later announced that he liked “Devil Is A Lie.” Maybe, just maybe, as Budden hears more music, his opinion will change too.
