A line wrapped around Virgin Hotels Nashville didn’t deter eager fans who waited in the drizzling rain to see country music superstar Kane Brown perform.
Attendees adorned in past Kane Brown tour merch, cowboy boots, hats, and raincoats trickled into The Pool Club for an interactive experience before the 31-year-old hit the stage to sing songs from his new album, High Road. The new project explores themes from Brown’s life as a father, husband, and artist managing his mental health. The DJ set the mood as attendees enjoyed a photo booth and complimentary drinks named after his songs and album.
With whiskeys in hand, couples and besties alike were ready for KB’s show, with many wondering what songs he would perform. Brown took to the stage as the rain picked up and welcomed us to a 45-minute set highlighting some of his hits and new music in a set selected by his band.
Brown kicked the night off with a tour favorite, “Fiddle in the Band.” His three-piece band included fiddler Lars Thorson, who’s been rocking crowds with him since 2018. Brown then transitioned to some of his past popular hits, including 2018’s “Lose It” and 2019’s “One Thing Right” with producer and DJ Marshmello, a frequent collaborator of Brown. “One Thing Right” was a fan favorite of the night as men in the crowd joined the women in singing their hearts out from beginning to end.
Kane Brown’s performance was part of Complex and Verizon’s 5G Home Concerts in the City series. Past tour stops include Houston and Atlanta, with Brown’s hometown of Nashville being the third city in the series. The music award winner kept it light and fun as he joked with his band and the crowd between songs. Then, midway through his set, he melted hearts with songs from his new album that are inspired by his children, including “Backseat Driver” and “3.” The crowd swayed as he sang, “My little dangling feet, pretty in pink, backseat driver.”
Then the Chattanooga native brought us back down memory lane as he closed out his set with popular hits like 2017’s “Heaven” and 2024’s “Miles on It” featuring Marshmello. Brown shared with the crowd that “Heaven” is his biggest hit to date.
Although Brown just ended a two-year stadium tour and is gearing up for another one, this intimate show was home for him. His patient and chill demeanor let the night flow, as he let his band lead the way. It was an experience that felt personal, and Brown even stuck around to shake hands, take pictures and sign autographs.
