David Beckham may have been in the hospital, but his wife, Victoria Beckham, made sure that he was well taken care of.

On Friday, June 27, she took to Instagram to wish her husband a speedy recovery. She posted to her stories a photo of the retired soccer star lying in a hospital bed, looking groggy and wearing hospital gown, with a large blue sling on his right arm. She captioned the shot: “Get well soon daddy.”

She followed up with a close-up of David’s tattooed hand clutching a beaded bracelet that spelled out a similar message: “Get well soon.”

In another shot, she tagged him in a picture of a box and bags of Bee Up, a non-GMO honey-based fruit snack he recently launched.

Later the same day, Victoria shared a clip of David up and about, standing in front of a counter piled high with lettuce and cucumbers — his arm still in the sling. “Look, he’s overperforming on the cucumber front,” she quipped as he picked up one of the oversized veggies with his good arm.

His deadpan, cheeky response? “I’m not sure you can say that darling.”

While the couple hasn’t revealed exactly what landed David in the hospital, it could be connected with one of his many old soccer injuries. Back in 2003, he fell and broke his wrist during a soccer match against South Africa. Despite the serious injury, he didn’t head to the hospital for treatment until after the game ended.

More recently, a report claimed an x-ray revealed that a screw used to repair his wrist injury hadn’t dissolved as intended and instead lodged itself into his forearm.

The wrist issue is just one of many David has collected over his long sports career. While playing for LA Galaxy, he once discovered that his nagging back pain was actually the result of a cracked vertebra, an injury he later admitted was “a bad one.”

“Certain parts of my body were a real mess,” he said.
