‘Get Ready With Me’ Influencer Reveals ‘Really Scary’ Cosmetic Procedure She Regrets Having Done
The beauty content creator urged her followers not to make the same major beauty mistake she did.
Alix Earle, who rose to fame on TikTok and other social media platforms by sharing candid glimpses of her personal life, just got even more vulnerable — this time, about a regretted cosmetic procedure she has never spoken about, until now.
In a video posted to TikTok on July 2, a teary Earle, 24, revealed that getting veneers after graduating from college was an “emotional” topic for her and a huge mistake.
“I never wanted to post about it because I immediately feel like I regretted it,” she said. “And I never want to influence people to do something that I don’t think they should do.”
As a child, Earle said, she got into a bicycle accident that misaligned her teeth, and she was supposed to use an Invisalign to correct them.
“They actually looked really good but I never wore the retainer so they ended up shifting a little bit, but I always loved my teeth, like I always had really, really good teeth,” she said.
To even things out, Earle eventually had her too-short lateral incisors bonded with composite material. But the bonding repeatedly cracked off while she slept.
Once the influencer gained social-media-star status and financial freedom, she decided to use some of her money to fix just her lateral incisors with veneers. But her dentist, she claimed, suggested something more drastic: bonding her six front upper teeth and four bottom teeth for a more uniform look.
“I don’t know why I listened to that because originally that’s not what I wanted,” she said, growing emotional. “So I went in for two teeth and I basically left with 10.”
Choking back her tears, she continued: “When am I not crying? I really regretted it right away and I think it was really scary for me and I was like, ‘What did I just do?'”
“End of the day, whatever, it was my decision but I feel like it was kind of those decisions that was made pretty fast and I just didn’t think it all the way through or talk to enough people,” she said, noting that she never actively hid the veneers from fans, but also didn’t talk about them publicly. “Like, I never said like, ‘Oh, I don’t have that.’ I just never came forward and said it because I really, really regretted it and I did not want to influence anyone to do it because I don’t think that you should.”
The social media star then issued a heartfelt warning to her followers. “If you’re thinking of doing anything to your teeth, this is your sign to not do it and to embrace your natural teeth,” she said. “I think teeth have so much character, so don’t follow my lead on this one.”
