PinkPantheress and Jimmy Fallon Recreate ‘Illegal’ Challenge with a Gory Twist
The British pop hitmaker previously said that she didn't expect the song to be so popular.
The viral “Illegal” trend on TikTok is the gift that keeps on giving. And British pop hitmaker PinkPantheress is having tons of fun during this legendary run.
On Wednesday, July 30, PinkPantheress — whose real name is Victoria Walker — made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Ahead of the episode, she and Fallon linked up to recreate the viral “Illegal” challenge — which sees two different people shaking hands as they find common ground, while singing the song’s opening lines — My name is Pink and it’s really nice to meet you / You were recommended to me by some people / Ooh…is this is illegal? / Ooh…it feels illegal.”
But Walker and Fallon’s version came with a twist fans won’t see coming.
As the two stars are shaking hands, Walker rips Fallon’s arm off. Fallon then screams and bleeds profusely. Luckily, Walker is able to stop the bleeding with one of her wigs, before quickly darting off. Surprised, Fallon asks Walker where she’s going.
“You’re going to be okay,” she tells the late-night host. “And it was really nice to meet you.”
Later on in the show, Walker made her TV debut performing a medley of songs from her latest mixtape, Fancy That — including “Illegal,” “Girl Like Me,” and “Tonight.”
As “Illegal” continues to climb the charts, many more people are jumping in on the trend. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday, July 29, Walker revealed that she didn’t expect for the song to take off.
“I definitely was surprised at the reception because I was totally going on a whim, doing the handshake thing,” she said. “I didn’t really expect anything to come from it, but I was really happy to see people were enjoying it. I thought it was really sick.”
This wasn’t the first time Walker put her own spin on the challenge. Earlier this week, during a studio session, she linked up with Jack Harlow to film a video set to the song — indicating that a collab might be on the way.
