Kim Kardashian Claims She Paid for Most of $2M Engagement Ring Kris Humphries Eventually Took Back
Kim and Kris were infamously married for 72 days in 2011.
Kim Kardashian supposedly paid for her own engagement ring to Kris Humphries.
On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kim claimed that she paid for most of her $2 million ring from Humphries, which he would later make her give back during their divorce.
Kim made the confession while reminiscing about her past engagement rings with sister Khloé Kardashian and jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, according to Page Six.
“I didn’t keep that,” said Kim, 44. “I was pregnant with North [West], still married to him, and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring in my divorce.”
Khloé jumped in to remind Kim that she had actually paid for most of the ring herself, to which Kim responded, “But I bought! He contributed a fifth [of the price].”
Humphries wound up auctioning off the ring and reportedly earned $749,000 for it in 2013.
The SKIMS founder mentioned she still kept the 14-carat, cushion cut ring she received from Damon Thomas, whom she was married to from 2000 to 2004.
Kim also discussed her third engagement ring from Kanye West, a 15-carat cushion cut that she still has and plans to pass down to their daughter North West.
A second ring from Ye, a 20-carat emerald cut, was stolen during her terrifying 2016 Paris robbery.
Kim and Kris tied the knot in 2011 with their marriage infamously lasting for only 72 days. Their divorce was finalized in 2013.
She made a rare comment about the doomed relationship during a 2021 Keeping Up With the Kardashians finale reunion special and offered an apology because she “fully broke up with him in the worst way.”
“I thought, ‘OK, everyone, you know, we’re filming this for a TV show. If I leave, I’m going to be known as the runaway bride forever and it’s going to be a huge joke,’” Kim said at the time.
