Marlon Wayans Roasts DJ Vlad Again, Clowns His Beard: ‘It Looks Like Trump’s Wig on a Face’
The actor and comedian reflected on his feud with the media personality in August after the two couldn't come to an agreement on an interview fee.
Marlon Wayans seems ready to move on from his public feud with DJ Vlad, but not before getting one last jab in.
As you might recall, the 52-year-old actor and comedian got into a heated exchange in August over his asking price of $40,000 plus 30 percent of future revenue for an interview on VladTV. Vlad, 51, criticized the fee, claiming he was “delusional,” as he thought an interview with Wayans on his platform would only garner around 300,000 views on YouTube.
The White Chicks star fired back, calling the media personality “unprofessional” and to “keep it moving” if he didn’t want to pay his fee.
On Monday, Wayans appeared for an interview on The Breakfast Club. Co-host Charlamagne tha God asked Wayans about what motivates him at the 27:51 mark in the video linked above, saying, “You're clearly a very motivated person. I think that one of the best examples of that we saw earlier this year when you and Vlad went through what y'all went through.”
“Fuck that n***a,” Wayans replied with a laugh. “Fuck him and his beard.”
Wayans explained that he is “over” the situation and referenced an alleged text conversation where Vlad accused Wayans of telling him “fuck you” and trying to negotiate down the interview fee to $5,000. However, Wayans said he felt disrespected when Vlad discussed his asking price with Aries Spears, seeing it as an attempt to create conflict between the two veteran Black comedians.
“That's when it got tricky. How you gonna tell my business to another Black man about my price? How dare you. Now you're trying to make us crabs in a barrel. Now you're trying to make me and Aries, you know, go to war and… that made me go, ‘That's why I'm not fucking with your platform,’” Wayans said.
Stating that success in the best revenge, the comedian highlighted his achievements in the entertainment industry, citing a billion dollars worth of box office receipts and a 35-year tenure across films, television, and comedy shows. He also pointed to the success of his Club Shay Shay interview with Shannon Sharpe, which has racked up over 8.6 million views since its premiere in September via YouTube.
“Boom. First day, 2 million views, and I'm just like, ‘Enough said, drop mic.’ And besides that, fuck your beard. I don't like his beard. It looks like Trump's wig on a face,” he joked. “It’s ugly. It's red, it looks like Gossamer from the Looney Tunes. You know the one that had the sneakers, that monster?”
Although Vlad has since apologized, Wayans insists he was never mad from the beginning and accepts his apology.
“I ain't got no beef with that man. You know what I'm saying? But just, put some respect on my name, bro. Like don't, don't come at me like that. I'm a peaceful dude,” he said. “And if you looked at the text that me and him—the correspondence, you'd be like, ‘Yo, Marlon was a classy dude all the way through.’”
He continued, “He messed up when he started talking about my price to other people. Y'all know this, your value is what you say your value is. Your worth is what you say your worth is. Yes, I will state the obvious as a Black man: no, you won't do that to me… We took that position in the eighties to kick open fucking doors to let people know, ‘No, no, no, no, no. This is what we do. This is how you do us.’ And you have to state the obvious, ‘No, you won't come at me like that.’”
