Syndey Sweeney Looks Unrecognizable as Boxer Christy Martin
Sweeney will play the pro boxer in a new biopic directed by David Michod.
Sydney Sweeney has completely transformed into boxing legend Christy Martin for a new biopic about the boxer.
On Wednesday, the 27-year-old Euphoria actress shared new photographs on Instagram in which she debuted her look for the film.
“Well the cats out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here’s a little bts from my film im working on right now. over the past few months, i’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman—a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring,” Sweeney wrote on Instagram.
In the photos, Sweeney sports curly brown hair with a red gym shirt and gray sweatpants.
“Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. more to come soon :),” she concluded.
Sweeney recently began production on the untitled sports biopic directed by David Michod, per Variety. The outlet also notes that Martin competed from 1989 to 2012 and became the world champion in the super welterweight class in 2009.
The pro boxer survived a murder attempt in 2010 by her husband, James Martin, who stabbed her multiple times and shot her in their Florida home. Two years later, James was convicted of attempted second-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The film is also set to star Ben Foster as James Martin, Merritt Weaver, Katy O’Brien, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Chad L. Coleman, and Tony Cavalero.
