Amid rampant speculation that there's a rift between Blake Lively and her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni, TMZ is reporting that the source of the rift came down to two separate incidents on set.

According to sources close to the production, Baldoni, who suffers from back issues, asked the on-set trainer how much Lively weighed before they filmed a scene where he lifted her character into the air.

The source told TMZ that Lively found out and felt "fat-shamed," especially because she had given birth to her fourth child with husband Ryan Reynolds just months before production began. Another incident was connected to a scene in which they kissed, which Lively allegedly felt went on for longer than it needed to.

There's been a lot of fervor surrounding the promotion and apparent drama between the co-stars of the film, which is based on Colleen Hoover's 2016 novel of the same name. It has already grossed over $90 million on a $25 million budget, but most of the discussion has been focused on speculation about the drama between the director and the film's stars.

Some fans of the film and novel have suggested that Lively has been "tone-deaf" when it comes to the promotional run for the movie, while Baldoni has repeatedly spoken about the importance of supporting survivors of domestic abuse. The two have also been completely separated during the premieres and promotion, and Lively notably does not follow Baldoni on Instagram.

Others, such as TikToker Jenna Redfield, pointed out that writer Liz Plank, who hosts a podcast with Baldoni and is friends with Lively, attended the premiere but only shared photos of Baldoni. Meanwhile, there was also a video shared on TikTok that showed the two in what appeared to be an on-set argument.

In an interview with Elle, Baldoni said there was "friction" on set but it ultimately made for a better movie. "There are all these things that happen every day on set, there’s always friction that happens when you make a movie like this," he said. "Then at the end of the day, it’s that friction, I believe, that creates the beautiful art. Everything in life needs friction to grow."

It could be that the two had a falling out over creative differences, especially since Lively had approval on the final cut as an executive producer. She notably got her hubby to write one of the movie's most crucial scenes, and according to the Hollywood Reporter, hired the editor of the latest Deadpool movie to deliver a cut of the film.

Baldoni has, however, praised Lively in several interviews. "I believe that her performance is going to help so many women feel seen and showcase this unique experience in a way that I don’t believe I’ve seen in another film," he told People, for instance.
