'Love Island' Stars Nicole Jacky and Kendall Washington Confirm Split Following Reunion Episode
The former couple came in fourth place on the show's sixth season.
Love Island Season 6 stars Nicole Jacky and Kendall Washington have confirmed they broke up shortly after their tense confrontation in the recent reunion episode.
"On August 18th, Kendall and I agreed our relationship was worth working on, and we were making plans for me to visit him in Dallas soon," Jacky wrote on her Instagram Stories. "However, today, on August 20th, he called and ended things. While I understand and respect his decision, it's hard to process this one. I opened up to him in the villa, and still love and care for him now. I'm struggling mentally and all I ask for is privacy during this time."
Washington also confirmed the split on his Instagram stories and said he was the one to end it.
"I reached a point where it was not healthy for us to continue the relationship," he wrote. "I still love and care for Nicole. I've never developed such strong feelings for a woman in my life. I have no regrets for the connection I made with her in the villa and it was real. She does not deserve any hate. Please stop with the negative comments/DM's. We're taking this time to focus on our mental health. Thank you guys."
The former couple came in fourth place during Season 6 of Love Island, but the future of their relationship seemed uncertain after they had their phones returned to them in late July. Washington discovered that private videos showing him nude were leaked during his time on the show, and fans noticed that the couple stopped publicly interacting with each other on social media.
Despite all that, they said they were still together on an episode of Nick Viall's The Viall Files podcast. Then, Jacky and Washington appeared on the Season 6 reunion episode on Monday, August 19—although, the episode was filmed on August 14—and they got into a tense argument regarding their lack of communication following the conclusion of Season 6.
