'Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta' Star Sierra Gates Addresses Mendeecees Cheating Controversy
This is far from the first time that Mendeecees has been accused of cheating.
Sierra Gates, a cast member on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, is clarifying comments she made that fueled rumors about Mendeecees Harris.
In a now-viral video, the beauty entrepreneur said she’d seen Mendeecees out with a married woman named Angie and claimed she had receipts. Gates alleged she’d spotted them together “in a few other places” and added, “I have pictures too.”
She also described a tense scene she says unfolded around the situation, telling viewers, “…but tonight you really tried it…like how you gon’ want to be a cheater and be scared that your husband gon’ find out. You just caused so much commotion tonight. Somebody could’ve ended up shot…in jail. It was so much.”
After multiple outlets reshared the clip, Gates issued a four-paragraph statement addressing the fallout.
She said she spoke directly with Yandy Smith and shared what she knew about Angie and the alleged encounters. While she didn’t disclose Yandy’s response, Gates said the episode reminded her why she prefers time with “family, husband, and solo” over social events.
She called her own reaction an out-of-character lapse brought on by a heated moment, writing, “I’m human. I was triggered,” and emphasizing that she’s protective of her loved ones.
Gates added, “People will think and judge how they want, but in a couple of days, none of this will matter. My focus is back on my purpose, my family and the incredible things we’re building.”
The dust-up arrives amid continued public scrutiny of Yandy and Mendeecees’ relationship on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.
According to The Jasmine Brand, in August 2024, a televised therapy session featured Mendeecees reaffirming he doesn’t wear a wedding ring. Later that fall, castmate Jasmine Bleu accused him on camera of visiting her strip club with another woman; he denied the claim.
Days after that episode aired, Mendeecees posted a woman’s fitness clip on Snapchat. Yandy stepped in to explain the post was monetized content, writing, “Cuz that’s how we pay our mortgage and car notes. Snap pays well. Please go look at his snap 32 more times. Lol ain’t that right.”
Questions resurfaced in March over whether Mendeecees DM’ed another woman; Yandy said she sent the message from his account, and their son jokingly claimed he did it.
Separately, Rasheeda and Kirk Frost suggested this spring that Yandy and Mendeecees aren’t legally married, with Kirk saying, “If y’all got an open relationship, just say it.”
As of this writing, Mendeecees and Yandy have not publicly responded to Gates’ video or her statement.
