Michael B. Jordan is cooking up his own slick heist movie energy—and he’s doing it all at once: starring, directing, and producing a fresh take on The Thomas Crown Affair.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production kicked off earlier this month in London. Jordan’s bringing his Black Panther sparring partner Danai Gurira (this time as his confidante, not his enemy), plus heavyweight talent like Academy Award winner Kenneth Branagh and Killers of the Flower Moon breakout star Lily Gladstone. Rising star Taylor Russell rounds out the squad as the detective determined to catch Jordan’s art‑obsessed billionaire in the heist act.

If you’re new to the Crown lore, think Ocean’s Eleven swagger with a romantic cat‑and‑mouse twist. The 1968 original paired Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, while the 1999 remix flexed Pierce Brosnan’s charm opposite Rene Russo. Jordan’s version keeps the globetrotting art‑heist vibes but shifts most of the action to Europe.

Behind the scenes, Jordan’s Outlier Society banner is producing alongside veteran hitmaker Charles Roven (The Dark Knight trilogy). Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) penned the current script draft, building on earlier passes from Wes Tooke and Justin Britt‑Gibson. Even Alan Trustman, who wrote the OG ’68 screenplay, is on deck as an executive producer.

Amazon MGM already circled March 5, 2027, for the theatrical release, giving Jordan plenty of runway to fine‑tune every stylish twist and double‑cross. And while plot details on Branagh and Gladstone are locked up tighter than a Basel vault, THR sources say Russell’s detective will trade suave one‑liners and maybe a little chemistry with Jordan’s gentleman thief.

For Gurira, the reunion with Michael B. Jordan is a full‑circle vibe. She snagged several awards for her role as Okoye in Black Panther while squaring off against Jordan’s breakthrough role as Killmonger. Since then, she’s been slaying zombies on The Walking Dead and prepping Apple TV+’s Matchbox opposite John Cena.
