We know director David Ayer is a fan of F-bombs, considering he's already lobbying for an R-rating for Suicide Squad 2. He made his fandom even more clear at the New York premiere for Suicide Squad tonight when he reportedly joined the crowd in a chant of "Fuck Marvel."

DC supporters probably shouldn't get too cocky just yet, though. The company's first step toward building its interconnected film universe the way Marvel has done perfectly over the past decade did not go so well with <Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Still, the trailers for Suicide Squad arguably look better than Batman V Superman ever did, and hopes are high for the movie, which opens in theaters this week.

At the premiere, all of the film's principal cast, which includes Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevigne showed up to walk a black carpet, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Will Smith was there, of course, and introduced the movie, taking a moment to celebrate the diversity of the cast.

The opening of Suicide Squad is a pivotal moment for DC, and the company will try to keep the excitement level high as it introduces Wonder Woman to its cinematic universe ahead of the massive team-up movie Justice League. Analysts are expecting Squad to bring in at least $130 million this weekend, which would be good enough to beat the August box office record set by Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014.
