Terry Crews Says Alleged Sexual Assaulter 'Got a Pass' After Returning to Work
The agent who is accused of groping Crews has returned to work after a one-month suspension.
The talent agent who is accused of sexually assaulting Terry Crews has returned to work, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Back in October, WME placed Adam Venit on a 30-day unpaid suspension after he was accused of groping Crews’ genitals in 2016. The football star-turned-actor tweeted the allegations on Oct. 10 as Harvey Weinstein faced mounting sexual misconduct allegations; however, Crews did not initially reveal a name.
That "Hollywood executive" was later identified as Venit, who represents big-name actors like Emma Stone, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, and Diane Keaton. According to THR, Venit was demoted from his position as head of the motion picture department and will now work as a full-time agent.
WME reportedly conducted an internal investigation of Crews’ claims, trying to find out if Venit’s alleged misconduct was part of a pattern or an isolated incident. Sources told THR the agency determined the latter, which is why he was allowed to return to work.
Crews responded to the news on social media.
Earlier this month, Crews claimed Russell Simmons—who is facing his own sexual assault allegations—urged him to give Venit "a pass." Crews posted a screenshot of an alleged email Simmons sent to him regarding the assault.
Crews spoke about his sexual assault case during a recent appearance on Good Morning America.
"I’m looking at him and he’s basically staring at me and he’s sticking his tongue out. Just overtly sexual kind of tongue moves. It’s a party, it’s packed, the whole thing," he recalled. "And I’m looking like, ‘Is this a joke? I don’t understand.’ It was actually so bizarre. And he keeps coming over to me. I stick my hand out and he literally takes his hand and puts it, squeezes my genitals [...] I have never felt more emasculated, more objectified. I was horrified."
