Chance the Rapper Expresses Support for Mo'Nique After She Calls for a Netflix Boycott

Mo'Nique has accused the streaming service of racial and gender discrimination.

Earlier this year, the Oscar-winning actress publicly blasted Netflix for allegedly trying to lowball her during negotiations for a comedy special. Mo’Nique accused the company of racial and gender discrimination, and has since called for a boycott of the popular streaming service:

“I am asking that you stand with me and boycott Netflix for gender bias and color bias,” she said in an Instagram video. “I was offered a $500,000 deal last week to do a comedy special; however, Amy Schumer was offered $11 million, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle $20 million […] When we asked Netflix to explain the difference, why the money was so different, they said, ‘Well, we believe that’s what Mo’Nique will bring. We said, ‘What about my résumé?’ They said, ‘We don’t go off of résumés.’”

In wake of the controversy, Mo’Nique has received support from celebrities like Wanda Sykes, Jada Pinkett Smith, and, most recently, Chance.

On Saturday, the Chicago rapper shared a tweet that read: “I’m with Mo’Nique.” He then took the time remind his followers about the actress’ 2007 comedy special I Coulda Been Your Cellmate, in which she performed at a women’s correctional facility in Ohio.
