Twitter Users Joke About Prince Harry Flying Into Canada via WestJet
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, recently announced their decision to step back as senior members of the Royal Family.
Prince Harry has landed in the Great White North—and he did it in the most Canadian way.
On Tuesday, the Duke of Sussex traveled to Vancouver Island to join his wife, Meghan Markle, and their 8-month-old son, Archie. Sky News shared a video of Harry's early morning arrival, in which he was seen stepping off an aircraft and getting into a car that was waiting on the tarmac. Though the footage was short, it has generated a considerable buzz on social media, as it underscored Harry's new life as a non-senior royal.
As you can see in the video above, Harry flew to Vancouver Island using Calgary-based WestJet, the second-biggest airline in Canada. Many people pointed to his means of travel as evidence he had truly given up the royal perks. Some were amused by the scene, while others applauded Harry for rolling in like a "true Canadian."

Harry's arrival comes just days after it was announced he and Meghan were giving up their Royal Highness titles. Though the couple will retain their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles, they will no longer work for the British monarchy and, therefore, no longer receive money from the Sovereign Grant.
Harry addressed his family's decision during a charity event in central London last week.
"It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option," Harry said, per Variety. "What I want to make clear is we’re not walking away, and we certainly aren’t walking away from you ... I will always have the utmost respect for my grandmother, my commander in chief, and I am incredibly grateful to her and the rest of my family, for the support they have shown Meghan and I over the last few months. I will continue to be the same man who holds his country dear and dedicates his life to supporting the causes, charities and military communities that are so important to me."
