Amanda Bynes is looking forward to losing weight.

The former actress took to her Instagram Story on Sunday to reveal that she’s starting the weight-loss drug Ozempic to help her lose over 40 pounds.

“Oh, I’m going on Ozempic. So excited. I’m 173 now, so I hope to get down to like 130, which would be awesome, so I look better in paparazzi pictures," Bynes said in the clip.

“I will post about my Ozempic journey, of course,” she added.

Ozempic, like Wegovy and other popular related brands, is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that was originally meant to treat diabetes but is now approved for aiding in weight loss.

According to People, last March, Bynes shared that she gained weight because of her depression.

“I’m doing a lot better now and have learned to do opposite action when I don’t feel like working out or eating clean,” she said at the time. “I weigh 162 pounds right now and want to get back to 110 pounds."

Bynes has struggled with her mental health, body insecurities, and substance abuse throughout her life, with the latter leading to her departure from Hollywood.

In June 2023, the 39-year-old was placed in a psychiatric hold for two weeks. Prior to being in psychiatric care, she was taken into police custody for a mental health evaluation. Bynes reportedly turned herself in to authorities after being deemed a danger to herself and others.
