Aubrey Plaza Honors Late Husband Jeff Baena With Tie-Dye Shirt on SNL50
Baena died by suicide in early January.
Aubrey Plaza attended SNL50 dressed in a sweet nod to her late husband.
The actress wore black dress pants, a black blazer and a tie-dye t-shirt to introduce musical guests Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard. However, according to People, her t-shirt held a special meaning.
The magazine reports that Plaza’s top was a tribute to her late husband, Jeff , who died by suicide in early January. The tie-dye was a nod to the couple’s 2021 wedding, where they opted to wear something a little less formal than your standard dress and tux.
“Jeff got really into tie-dyeing during the quarantine,” Plaza said on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2021. “So, I decided that Jeff and I were going to wear tie-dye pajamas that he had made for us.”
The director's assistant reportedly found Baena inside his Los Angeles home on Jan. 3 after the 47-year-old had died by suicide. Plaza later called his death an “unimaginable tragedy.”
The pair started dating in 2011 and married 10 years later. They worked together on films like the Baena-directed Life After Beth and The Little Hours. He gained prominence for co-writing the 2004 independent film I Heart Huckabees. He also directed Joshy, Horse Girl, and his final movie, Spin Me Round.
