Lupita Nyong'o Pays Tribute to Chadwick Boseman 4 Years After His Death: ‘Grief Never Ends’

It’s been four years since Chadwick Boseman’s tragic death.

Lupita Nyong’o took to Instagram to mourn the loss of her friend. She posted two photos, one of Boseman by himself and a second of them laughing together.

“‘Grief never ends. But it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It’s the price of love,’” she wrote, quoting an “unknown” author.

She added, “Remembering Chadwick Boseman. Forever.”

Boseman passed away in 2020 after a four-year battle with colon cancer. He was 43 years old at the time. At the time of his death, it was revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2016—which he never publicly disclosed—and continued to fight it as it progressed to stage 4.

Recently Nyong’o shared that she memorialized her Black Panther co-star in her role in the new horror/sci-fi film, A Quiet Place: Day One. Nyong’o plays Samira who has an encounter with aliens, which leads to an apocalypse—and, at the same time, she’s battling terminal cancer.

"In the end, it was actually very therapeutic because I had just experienced not too many years ago the death of Chadwick Boseman, which shook me to my core," the 41-year-old told People about playing Samira. "I definitely was thinking about that a lot."
