Brenda Song on Eloping WIth Macauley Culkin: ‘My Mom Would Have a Heart Attack’
The actors opened up about their 8-year relationship in a new cover story.
Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song are intensely private, but that didn't stop them from dishing on their life together in a rare interview.
For Cosmopolitan’s new cover story, the couple discussed marriage, kids, and their careers.
“We talked about eloping,” Brenda told the publication. “But I was like, ‘If we eloped, my mom would have a heart attack that she wasn’t going to be there....’”
Culkin popped the question in 2022, five years after he and Song first got together. In that time, the couple has welcomed two sons, 3-year-old Dakota and 2-year-old Carson.
“That the public is like, ‘Wait, they’re together and they have kids?’ Good. That means we did our job,” Culkin said.
Song added, “There was a point in time where I was like, ‘I must be in a simulation! I have two children with Macaulay Culkin!’”
The pair met through their mutual friend Seth Green in 2014, later crossing paths once again in 2017 as costars in the indie film Changeland. Both have similar experiences in Hollywood as child actors, Brenda making a name for herself on Disney’s The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Macaulay with the beloved holiday classic, Home Alone.
In December 2023, when Culkin received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he thanked his fiancée.
“You’re my champion,” he said, “the only person happier for me today than I am. You’re not only the best woman I’ve ever known, you’re the best person I’ve ever known. You’ve given me all my purpose. You’ve given me family.”
Song most recently appeared in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, alongside Pamela Anderson, and will star in Mindy Kaling’s Running Point with Kate Hudson. Meanwhile, Culkin is slated to appear in Season 2 of the Prime Video series, Fallout.
