Samuel L. Jackson Says ‘I Don’t Believe That Sh*t’ to Fan Who Said He Loves Him
The fan spotted Jackson outside the premiere of Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal's Broadway show, 'Othello.'
Samuel L. Jackson was skeptical when a fan told him he loved him.
A clip posted on March 24 shows the fan spotting the actor outside the Ethel Barrymore Theater, where the Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal-starring Othello is running.
“Yeah, Sam Jackson. I love you, Sam,” the fan said to Jackson. “I love you. I love you, man.”
Jackson replied, “I don’t believe that shit,” prompting the fan to say, “I mean that,” before laughing. “Okay. Yo, that’s crazy, son. Yo, that’s crazy,” the fan added as he walked away.
The Broadway show's March 23 premiere was a star-studded event, with Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Joe and Jill Biden, Katie Holmes, Martha Stewart, Colman Domingo, Spike Lee, Gayle King, and more in attendance.
The Shakespearian revival stars Washington as Othello and Gyllenhaal as Iago. Othello, a military commander, is certain that his wife has been having an affair with his ensign, Iago. Washington previously played Othello at Fordham University.
According to CNN, following the play’s opening night, the Broadway production became the top-grossing play of all time, amassing $2.8 million with eight preview shows. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child previously held the record after it garnered $2.7 million in December 2023.
