Tia Mowry Repurposes Wedding Ring Into Jewelry for Kids After Divorce: 'I Did the Right Thing'

The actress finalized her divorce from Cory Hardrict in April 2023.

Tia Mowry is repurposing her wedding ring.

In a new episode of her reality show, Tia Mowry: My Next Act, the 46-year-old discusses wanting to create something out of the ring for her children. She shares 13-year-old son Cree and 6-year-old daughter Cairo with her ex-husband, Cory Hardrict.

"I haven't worn it for almost two years now, and it just doesn't feel right to sell it," she says in the episode, per PEOPLE. "But what I am wanting to do is change my wedding band into something for my kids. Pass it down, you know, to my kids, because they have been my biggest gift."

"I haven’t worn it. It's just been sitting,” Mowry adds, becoming emotional, calling the ring, “very pretty.”

In the episode, the actress goes to a jewelry shop for a consultation on what to make from her ring. In a confessional, she reveals that Hardrict was on her mind the whole time.

"It's hard for me to not think about Cory when I am deciding to repurpose my wedding band because he is the one who gave me my wedding ring," she says. She also looks back on her proposal: "I was so surprised. So it's very hard for me not to think about what he would think."

She continues, "But I am learning that, at the end of the day, I need to make this decision for me. And I think because it's going to the kids, he'll be okay."

She ended up making a necklace for Cree and a bracelet for Cairo. "I just think it's so beautiful to transform something that was given out of love and to give it to your children. It just makes me feel like my marriage wasn't a waste," she says. "I did the right thing."

Mowry and Hardrict were married for 14 years before announcing their split in October 2022. They finalized their divorce in April 2023.
