Tyrese Gibson was taken into custody for unpaid child support payments.

TMZ reports that the singer and actor was held in contempt of court on Monday following a court appearance in the morning. Gibson shares 5-year-old Soraya with ex-wife Samantha Lee.

Hip Hop Inquirer's Dennis Byron was present when Tyrese was taken into custody. "I was inside the courtroom as presiding Judge Kevin Farmer ordered the singer to be held in willful contempt of court," Byron wrote.

In September 2022, Judge Kevin M. Farmer ordered Tyrese to pay $10,000 a month in child support, which he failed to do. After being found in contempt of court, he was handcuffed and removed from the courtroom.

It has now been mandated that Tyrese pay his ex $73,000, which includes $7,500 for Lee’s attorney fees. Last year, he started sending her some money every month, in the realm of $2,200, nothing close to $10,000.

On Sunday, Tyrese foresaw the arrest happening. “At 9 a.m. in the morning in Atlanta, I might be arrested in court,” he wrote on Instagram. He then said that Farmer and his ex-wife’s lawyers had been colluding against him.

“We are APPEALLING (sic) ALL OF HIS RULINGS AND ALREADY HAVE TRIED TO GET THIS JUDGE THROWN OFF THE BENCH TWICE,” he wrote on Sunday. “The second time we tried to get him recused from the bench. [He actually denied his own request to be thrown off the bench] …imagine that???”

A source later told TMZ that Gibson is getting the $73,000 together for Lee, so it seems like he’ll be free from custody soon enough.

Byron also backed this claim, tweeting, "Tyrese has miraculously found the money he owes to his ex-wife Samantha Gibson and is arranging for it to be paid right now. He will likely be home for dinner."
