First of all, what’s up with the whole leaving-out-the-last-vowel thing? Grindr, Flickr, the Weeknd?

Phonetics-mangling aside, the popular gay hookup app Grindr has released a new app called Blendr, aimed at a wider audience. The app still functions as a location-based people finder, but unlike other people trackers, users can find each other and communicate in real-time.

Grindr found success with the gay community, because it allowed users to locate partners nearby without having to release all of their personal information at once or be pre-existing friends or acquaintances. Blendr hopes to capitalize on that same principle.
