On July 23, internet personality Ava Kris Tyson was accused of grooming a minor named Lava.

Tyson, a regular in mega-popular YouTuber Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson’s videos (until very recently), acknowledged the allegations against her, apologized for her past behavior, and said she’s “permanently [stepped] away” from MrBeast and social media. As things quickly came to a head, the alleged victim, Lava, defended Tyson online, saying that the internet personality “never did anything wrong.”

But what is actually going on here, and how did we end up with such a dizzying turn of events?

The situation started going viral in July 2024, but the accusations first came to light in June 2024. These videos amplified the allegations against Tyson, leading us to the victim’s statement.
