'Aquaman' Has Made $1 Billion in Global Box Office
'Aquaman''s ticket sales make the movie one of five films to pass the $1 billion mark in 2018.
Aquaman continues to make box office history. The superhero film has now grossed over a $1 billion globally.
Aquaman is the first DC Comics film to surpass this milestone since The Dark KnightRises back in 2012 ($1.08 billion). In fact, Aquaman is on track to be the top grossing movie in DC history: Its $1.02 billion also surpassed the $1.004 billion The Dark Knight made in 2008, and the Jason Momoa-starring flick is on pace to make that extra $.06 billion.
The James Wan flick is also the 37th film ever to break the $1 billion mark, according to Forbes. Its also the first non-Disney flick to achieve the feat since Transformers: Age of Extinction back in 2014.
Aquaman's ticket sales make the movie one of five 2018 films to make 10 figures. The others are Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,Incredibles 2,Black Panther, and Avengers: Infinity War. The last two are proof that 2018 was still Marvel's year: Black Panther was a cultural phenomenon and the Thanos Snap is a meme. But Aquaman's success shows that DC is at least putting up a fight.
