Angela Simmons Talks Yo Gotti Breakup, Says She’s in 'Healing Season'
The reality television personality still envisions a "healthy love" for herself.
Angela Simmons has confirmed her breakup from Yo Gotti.
The exes dated just over two years, and Simmons revealed the breakup on the Wednesday (June 18) episode of podcast Angie Martinez IRL.
Early in the interview, Simmons said that she's in a "growing season" and a "healing season."
"I'm transforming into the next part of myself," she continued.
The former Run's House star, who said she's in her "single girl era," shared that she has "respect" for the Memphis rapper although they're no longer together.
"I wouldn't have chose it, but it was what was best," Simmons said, although she confirmed that she ended the relationship without going into detail.
"I could have probably been in and out of like four or five other relationships," Simmons continued. "People would have never known and gotten my feelings hurt or not or whatever. And I just wouldn't speak on it because some stuff is just better left unsaid."
Later in the episode, the Angela's Cakes founder discussed the difficulties of relationships when men "fantasize" about a perceived version of her based on reality television. Gotti first referred to Simmons as his "crush" on 2016 track "Down in the DM."
"Then you get in a relationship with me and you're like, 'Oh, I thought you were like this,'" Simmons said. "I'm like, 'Bro, that was five seconds of my life.' This is who I am."
Simmons added that she and Yo Gotti shared "great, beautiful memories" and that their fun moments seen on social media "were happening in real time."
For Simmons 37th birthday last September, Yo Gotti did it big, taking the socialite on vacation and gifting her luxury items.
Post-breakup, Simmons said that she's "always healing" and "trying to get through everything" and said "never say never" to another public relationship.
She also extended advice to those who have fallen out of love with their exes, telling them to "go get some help."
"Go get your friends. Go pull yourself together," Simmons said. "Do something for yourself."
Last month, Simmons implied that she was no longer with Yo Gotti on her Instagram Stories, according to Vibe. "
I want what wants me in life. In all areas. What flows FLOWS. What goes GOES," she wrote.
Simmons was previously engaged to Sutton Tennyson, who was killed in 2018. Simmons and Tennyson had a son, Sutton Joseph Jr., in September 2016.
