Choreographer Behind Viral ‘Law & Order’ Theme Song Dance Reacts to Mariska Hargitay
The viral dance started when Stephon Vann recorded himself at a bus stop.
A choreographer got the shock of his life when his viral TikTok dance dedicated to Law & Order caught the eye of some of the show's stars.
Stephon Vann, known on TikTok as @jonas_sjv, spoke to People about the widely circulated dance that he created "just on a whim." Vann's first TikTok that he danced to the SVU theme song was posted on July 15, where he admitted that the show "cooked with the intro." Less than two weeks later, Von posted a follow-up TikTok, which now has 2.8 million likes and shows friends joining him for the dance.
"I asked them, because people don't always like doing TikToks," Vonn told People. "They might get embarrassed doing it for the camera, but I thought the synchronicity and flash mob look would be pretty cool. When we did it, we only did two takes. The second is the one that has been spreading around."
The TikToks were a hit on the platform and reached the NBC desk within weeks, leading to SVU stars Mariska Hargitay and Kelli Giddish trying out the dance.
"They invited me to a collaboration and I just jumped to the moon. I'm like, 'Ain't no way the people from Law & Order are doing this dance!'" Vann joked.
Vonn added that the actresses "looked like they had a lot of fun doing it" and hope that both "enjoyed" the viral routine.
"Who knows what the future holds? But it was cool seeing them do it, and I loved everything about it. I never had anything like that happen before," he said.
The trend has since gone from city to city, with Vonn performing it among fellow dancers in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.
ComplexCon returns to Las Vegas on October 25–26, 2025, with over 300 brands and live performances by Young Thug, YEAT & Friends, Peso Pluma, Central Cee, Ken Carson, and more. Get your tickets now.
