Trump Says Sydney Sweeney Has ‘Hottest Ad Out There’ After Learning Actress Is Registered Republican
The U.S. president commended Sweeney for being a registered Republican.
President Donald Trump has given his stamp of approval to Sydney Sweeney's controversial American Eagle ad campaign.
Unveiled in July, AE's "great jeans" campaign focuses on the Echo Valley actress and uses puns that some have debated push eugenics, since Sweeney also has blond hair and blue eyes.
The clothing brand downplayed the controversy, writing in a statement that the campaign is "about the jeans" and Sweeney's "story."
On Monday (August 4), Trump entered the chat, commending Sweeney on Truth Social for being a "registered Republican" and having the "hottest ad out there."
"It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are 'flying off the shelves.' Go get ‘em Sydney!"
In the same post, Trump slammed brands like Bud Lite and Jaguar for being "woke" in their advertisements, alleging that they turned off consumers, and called Taylor Swift a "woke singer."
"She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT," Trump wrote. "The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be."
Trump previously spoke to reporters in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he first praised Sweeney's alleged political affiliation.
"She’s a registered Republican?!" Trump said in the video below. "Oh. Now I love her ad! Is that right? Sydney Sweeney … You’d be surprised how many people are Republicans. If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic."
U.S. Vice President JD Vance mocked Democrats while addressing the AE campaign on the August 1 episode of conservative podcast, Ruthless.
"My political advice to the Democrats is continue to tell everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive is a Nazi," he said. "That appears to be their actual strategy."
