Jamie Foxx on Fame, 'Super Dangerous' Social Media: 'Them Comments Will Tear Your Ass Up'

Jamie Foxx wants social media users to give the apps a break for their self-esteem.

The Academy Award winner was interviewed for the latest installment of BET Immersed before he took home the ICON Award at the 2025 BET Awards. Around the 16-minute mark of the video below, Foxx revealed that in recent years, his career hasn't been as "enjoyable" as it was before.

"I tell people all the time ... be careful what you wish for," Foxx told reporter Brande Victorian. "'Cause I'm a gregarious dude and I just want to have fun
and sometimes people would take advantage of that."

Foxx warned that people have to "be careful" because "everything is looked at" and "scrutinized."

The entertainer said he plans to open up about it all in his upcoming comedy stand-up special Victory Lap on Hulu, where he'll shed light on fame not being "fun anymore."

"Back in the day fame was cool, but now it's tough," he said. "What's crazy is everything that you're doing could be negated in one post."

Foxx added that while social media has "good qualities," it can also be "super dangerous."

"Anything you think it is, it ain't," he said.

The 57-year-old joked about posting on Instagram but not getting as many "likes" as you sought.

"Hey, don't read them comments. Them comments will tear your ass up. 'You look like your breath stink!'" Foxx said.

Much of social media ran with the conspiracy theory that Foxx was cloned after being hospitalized in 2023, tying the situation to the plot of film They Cloned Tyrone, which he starred in.

He recently addressed the rumors during a Hollywood Reporter roundtable, joking that he hallucinated about being cloned while in the hospital.
