Jenna Ortega Recalls One of Her ‘First Jobs’ on ‘Iron Man 3’: They Took All My Lines Out'
Ortega spoke about 'Iron Man 3' during a sit-down with 'Entertainment Tonight.'
Marvel Studios gave Jenna Ortega an early opportunity that almost derailed her acting career.
The actress stars in new A24 comedy-horror Death of a Unicorn, and a press junket with co-star Paul Rudd, Entertainment Tonight inquired about her interest in being in the MCU. But Ortega made a brief appearance in Iron Man 3 as a child. In the 2013 action flick, she's seen for a split second in a minor role, playing the daughter of Vice President Rodriquez (Miguel Ferrer).
"I did it once," Ortega said. "It was one of the first jobs I ever did. They took all my lines out. I’m in Iron Man 3 for a quick second. I take up the frame, I have one leg and I’m the vice president’s daughter."
Rudd, who plays Ant-Man in the MCU, gives his perspective and acknowledges that Ortega could soon be offered a bigger role.
"Marvel is very good at like, kind of laying those bread crumbs," he said. "And so it might very well be that you come back. That they are going to create something for you, cause they should be so lucky to have Jenna Ortega in their franchise."
But Ortega, still offended by her Iron Man experience, doesn't go for the idea. "They even took my name away," she replies. "I count that, then I move on."
But even when Marvel does show their interest in Ortega again, the 22-year-old is booked up, next starring in The Weeknd's Hurry Up Tomorrow. With two other film projects ahead of her, Ortega's Netflix show, Wednesday, is also renewed for a second season.
