Tyler Perry influenced Katt Williams to upgrade an old military base into a production studio.

Williams, who purchased Alabama military base Fort McClellan last November, was asked about the barracks during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, March 20.

"I heard that you bought a military base in Alabama. Is that true? A military base," Fallon said around the nine-minute mark of the video below.

"As starving comedians would do," Williams joked.

"The reason why my life works in golf and off the golf course is because I follow instruction well," Williams added. "So if I see somebody do a good job, I just want to do a good job. I'm going to follow the example."

"So Tyler Perry got a military base, made it into a movie studio, and started making movies," he continued. Katt Williams..."

When asked if he's "making movies" like the media mogul, Williams joked that he's not "wearing dresses," unlike Perry's portrayal of Madea.

Williams spoke to GQ about his $1.5 million studio purchase last year, nearly a decade after Perry turned Atlanta, Georgia site, Fort McPherson into the 330-acre Tyler Perry Studios. Filmed on the property are former shows like Sistas and The Haves and the Have Nots, along with Marvel Studios blockbuster Black Panther. Other entertainers who've gone on to launch their own studios are 50 Cent with G-Unit Films and Television and Donald Glover with Gilga.

"It’s just not fair to put all that pressure on Tyler Perry. He can only do so much," the actor-comedian told GQ.
