The second season of Squid Game made Netflix history this week.

The show debuted on Christmas Day and, in its first four days, hit 68 million views, higher than any other Netflix series, Variety reports. The previous record-holder was Wednesday, which saw 50.1 million views in its premiere week.

Additionally, Squid Game Season 2 quickly climbed to the seventh spot on Netflix's list of its all-time top non-English TV shows, which is based on each series' first 91 days of viewership. Atop the list is Squid Game season one, which debuted in 2021.

The second season of the South Korean smash hit focused on protagonist Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) returning to save new Squid Game players from the game. But we'll have to wait until 2025 to see if his attempt was successful, as the show has been renewed for a third and final season.

This may come as a relief to the show's creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, as he recently told Variety that he's "exhausted" from the Squid Game hype.

"I'm so sick of my life making something, promoting something," he told the outlet. "So I'm not thinking about my next project right now. I'm just thinking about going to some remote island and having my own free time without any phone calls from Netflix…Not the 'Squid Game' island."
