It seems that actress Tia Mowry was relatively sheltered before meeting her now-ex-husband, actor Cory Hardrict.

On the October 4th premiere of her new We TV and ALLBLK reality television show, Tia Mowry: My Next Act, the former Sister, Sister star had a sit-down with her friend group, including fellow actress Essence Atkins. During the discussion, the women talked divorce, and Mowry revealed that she had "never dated" prior to Hardrict, who was her "first everything."

"I wasn't even allowed to date until I was eighteen years old," said the 46-year-old during a confessional scene. "I met Cory when I turned twenty and I lost my virginity at twenty-five. There, I said it! And then we got married! Boom!"

While Mowry and Hardrict were married from 2008 to 2023, the news about Mowry being a virgin until her mid-20s came as a shock to some fans, many of whom reacted with disappointment that the actress was also inexperienced in dating before marriage.

But rather than jumping back into the dating pool, Mowry's focus is on co-parenting with Hardrict, as the two share a 13-year-old son, Cree and daughter, Cairo, 6.

"I feel like I've learned so much, and I can't wait to apply that to my new [potential] relationship, but I'm already doing that," Mowry said on TODAY with Hoda and Jenna last week, adding, "I can already see myself being a better mother and just being present with my friendships."

Mowry's twin sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley, was also a virgin until she was 29, then decided to become celibate with her boyfriend at the time, former FOX News correspondent Adam Housley, before the two wed in 2011. On a 2016 episode of The Real, Mowry-Housley shared that she struggled to forgive herself about losing her virginity before walking down the aisle due to her religious background.

"Sometimes when you do something that you know maybe you shouldn't have done, it's hard to move on," she told her cohosts. "I have a very long story about what I needed to forgive myself about. You guys all know that I made a pact to myself to stay a virgin before I got married and I tried for a very, very, very long time."
