‘16 and Pregnant’ Star Whitney Purvis Says She Was Denied Entry to Son's Funeral
She says she was told the wrong start time for the event.
The sudden death of Whitney Purvis' son has gotten more complicated.
Last week, the former 16 & Pregnant star announced the passing of her oldest son, 16-year-old son Weston Owen Gosa Jr., who suffered from diabetes among other ailments.
Purvis shares Weston with her ex-boyfriend, Weston Gosa Sr., and in a Facebook status posted on Wednesday (June 18), Purvis claimed that Gosa and his wife, Amy, denied her entry to her son's funeral.
Purvis alleges that she was notified that her son's funeral would begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, but upon arriving at the location in Georgia, she learned the event had started at 2 p.m. She also said she, along with her friends and family, weren't on the guest list.
"Ive let my sons father and wife bash me online and make up their own narrative to make me sound horrible for years but im gonna stand up for myself this time," Purvis wrote in a Facebook status.
"My sons father told me it was at four and if you don't know we have a horrible relationship, no matter how hard I've tried to get along he has always refused and will always do his best to make sure I suffer," she continued. "You would think with little Weston dying that we could put our differences aside right? Nope. It always has to be drama."
Purvis added that there were "several witnesses" to the ordeal and was told that she was two hours late to the funeral.
"The truth is he didn't want me there or my family and friends. He invited over a 100 people and I invited like 20 and he told me only my mom and uncles could come," Purvis said.
Purvis wrote that she was refused "emotional support" during the occasion and admitted to having struggles as a young mother in the past. Purvis and Gosa have a younger son, River, who was born in 2014, but the reality television star lost custody of both children and was arrested last year for failing to make child support payments.
"Ive made mistakes in life but I wasnt a horrible mother like they treat me," Purvis wrote.
In a second status, Purvis claimed that her child's death could've been prevented and that the elder Gosa had a life insurance policy on their son but no medical insurance, among other allegations of financial negligence.
