Texas AG Ken Paxton's divorce from his wife, Angela, got immediately ugly.

Angela Paxton, who is a state senator, unloaded on X.

"Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds. I believe marriage is a sacred covenant, and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation," she wrote on Thursday, July 10. The post has had 15 million views.

"But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage. I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose," she added.

For his part, Ken adopted a different tone in his own statement.

"After facing the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny, Angela and I have decided to start a new chapter in our lives," he wrote on X. "I could not be any more proud or grateful for the incredible family that God has blessed us with, and I remain committed to supporting our amazing children and grandchildren. I ask for your prayers and privacy at this time."

CNN obtained the divorce documents, which went even further.

In those documents, Angela "alleged that the attorney general had committed adultery and said they stopped living together around June 1, 2024," according to CNN.

According to the Associated Press, the divorce filing comes amid Ken's campaign for U.S. Senate. He is running against Sen. John Cornyn in a Republican primary.

The couple's marital issues are no surprise. The AP noted that he was accused of an extramarital affair during a 2023 state impeachment trial that "ended with his full acquittal."

Ken also recently faced a state securities fraud indictment that "was recently dismissed after a 2024 plea deal to pay restitution and complete community service," AP wrote.
