'Die Hard' Screenwriter Verifies That It Is Actually a Christmas Movie
Can we put this "Is 'Die Hard' a Christmas movie" debate to bed now?
Is it time to finally put the "Is Die Hard a Christmas movie" debate to bed? When asked by CNN's Jake Tapper to provide his two cents on the matter, the film's screenwriter Steven E. de Souza declared that Die Hard is, in fact, a Christmas movie, jokingly adding that the studio initially rejected he and Jeb Stuart's Purim draft idea.
de Souza supported his argument by pointing out that "a woman about to give birth features prominently."
de Souza also posted a photo of himself reading Die Hard by the fireplace, wearing a sweater emblazoned with the phrase, "Now I have a machine gun, Ho, Ho Ho," a reference to a scene in the film.
The line where de Souza says that "he made fists with his toes" is another reference to the 1988 film.
So, are we done debating whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie? Yeah...probably not.
