The 70th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, which were hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che, kicked off with the historic victory of Henry Winkler, who won for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. It was Winkler’s first win after falling short in his five previous nominations. The Amazon series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel cleaned up in the comedy categories with Amy Sherman-Palladino claiming the awards for Directing and Writing, as well as Rachel Brosnahan and Alex Borstein taking the trophy for Lead Actress and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, respectively.

In addition to Winkler and Brosnahan, the Emmys featured a handful of few other first-time winners, including Darren Criss for his role as Andrew Cunanan in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Matthew Rhys in The Americans, and Thandie Newton for Westworld.

The show also included some memorable moments, such as (maybe/maybe not) Donald Glover dressing up as Atlanta character Teddy Perkins, and Regina King incorporating "no cap" in her acceptance speech.

Oh, and there was that amazing proposal by Glenn Weiss after winning for Outstanding Directing for Variety Special.
