Netflix has released the official trailer for Mr. McMahon, the much-anticipated docuseries exploring the rise and fall of WWE co-founder Vince McMahon.

“People have wondered who I really am,” he says at the beginning of the preview. “You know, the portrayal of me is I’m a bad guy, but no one really knows me.”

According to Netflix, the six-episode docuseries will attempt to “pull back the curtain to reveal the true Vince McMahon obscured beneath the persona he presented to the world.” The series will shed more light on McMahon’s acquisition of the WWF, which was later rebranded as the WWE, and his mission to transform the entity into a global entertainment powerhouse.

Mr. McMahon will also delve into several controversies that plagued McMahon over the years, including a steroid scandal among the WWE talent and multiple allegations of sexual assault, which he’s consistently denied.

The accusations forced the entertainment mogul to step down as WWE's CEO in 2022; however, he returned to the company’s board the following year. McMahon resigned for good back in January while facing mounting backlash over a slew of alleged crimes, including rape, sex trafficking, and defecation.

The docuseries was directed by Chris Smith (Tiger King), who also served as executive producer alongside Bill Simmons and Zara Duffy.

“Over the four years of production, the story evolved in truly shocking ways, culminating in some extremely harrowing allegations,” Smith told Netflix. “The final product is a revealing documentary that we believe offers a rich and nuanced portrait of the man and the complex legacy he left behind.”
